LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A new Epic/MRA poll of active and likely November voters in Michigan sheds light on how Michiganders think former president and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and current Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris match up on key issues for the upcoming election in November.

When asked if they thought Harris or Trump would handle the following issues better, poll respondents answered as follows:

    • Proposing an acceptable end to Russia’s war in Ukraine— Trump wins 50-40
    • Nominating qualified and unbiased candidates the Supreme Court and others— Harris wins 45-37
    • Negotiating an end to the war in Gaza that provides humanitarian aid to Palestinians and secures all hostages taken by Hamas— Trump wins 46-40
    • Working to slow the frequency and severity of storms and wildfires many say are caused by climate change— Harris wins 47-23
    • Enacting an acceptable national law on abortion, contraception, and other reproductive health care— Harris wins 50-31
    • Advancing economic policies that tackle inflation and pushing changes in tax laws that benefit people— Trump wins 49-42
    • Taking on the high cost of housing to reduce levels of homelessness and the crime and drug problems that often go with it— Harris wins 46-43
    • Confronting threats from China, Iran, North Korea, and other dictatorships— Trump wins 55-38
    • Ensuring access to affordable quality health care for all Americans— Harris wins 54-32
    • Proposing bipartisan immigration legislation Congress will pass, which will secure our borders— Trump wins 51-40

Independent of either candidate, respondents were also asked their opinion on abortion. 39% of respondents believe that abortion should be legal in all cases, and 19% believe that it should be legal in most cases.

22% believed that abortion should be legal in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother, and 8% believed it should be legal only when necessary to save the life of the mother.

6% believed it should be entirely illegal.

The poll was conducted by Epic/MRA and has a margin of error of 4%.
