LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– Lansing Mayor Andy Schor has announced that coat drive collections have begun and will run through Friday, November 15.

The City of Lansing said gently used winter coats, hats, and gloves for children and adults will be distributed for free at Community Connect on Thursday, November 21 at the downtown CATA station.

    Drop-off locations:

    • Lansing City Hall, 124 W. Michigan Ave.
    • Foster Community Center, 200 N. Foster Ave.
    • Gier Community Center, 2400 Hall St.
    • Schmidt Community Center, 5825 Wise Rd.
    • Letts Community Center, 1220 W. Kalamazoo St.
Lansing winter coat drive begins, needs donations

“It’s hard to believe we’re already looking ahead to winter, but now is the time to prepare. I’m asking Lansing residents to help those in the most need by donating cold-weather outerwear,” said Mayor Schor.

“Whether there’s a coat in the back of your closet that no longer fits or you can pick up an extra pair of gloves while shopping, making a donation is simple. We want every person to have the winter gear they need, and that can only happen when we all pitch in.”
