LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Mid-Michigan has been blessed with some fall-like conditions for the start of September, however as we head into the rest of the work week ahead we will start to see warmer temperatures and the chance for rain return as well.

The area of high pressure that has been controlling the forecast will continue to shift east allowing temperatures here to warm up over the next few days. However, for today we will see temperatures into the low to mid-70s with plenty of sunshine with a few fair weather clouds. tonight skies remain clear and temperatures fall into the upper 40s to low 50s which is still cool for this time of year.

As the high-pressure system moves to the east we will see our winds shift from the north to the south into Wednesday which will allow warmer air to move in for both Wednesday and Thursday. By Wednesday we will see temperatures into the low 80s with plenty of sunshine, Thursday temperatures will warm into the mid to upper 80s with mostly sunny skies for the morning but increasing clouds by the afternoon and evening.

Clouds increase ahead of a cold front that will bring rain and storms back to the forecast for Thursday night and into Friday morning. Some of these storms could be on the stronger side but we will have to keep an eye on the trends going forward. Friday remains mostly cloudy with rain showers off and on throughout the day. Temperatures remain in the low 70s to wrap up the week.

Once the cold front passes fall really settles into the forecast with cool and crisp temperatures, daytime highs only reaching the low to mid-60s with scattered showers for both Saturday and Sunday. Heading into next week we will see temperatures gradually return to the 70s with sunshine as well.
