LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The former Greyhound Bus Station located at 511 S. Washington Ave. in downtown Lansing, has been purchased by the Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA).

Spokeswoman Lolo Robison tells 6 News the purchase price is $1,025,000 — less than $100 a square foot. The 10,665-square-foot building was built in 1950. Robison says CATA has plans for the building.

“Our vision is for the facility to house some CATA offices, primarily those that are customer-facing employees,” Robison wrote in an email to 6 News. “It will also accommodate public meetings, a resource center for customers and, potentially, space for another community partner.”

The location is half a block southwest of the CATA Transportation Center located on Grand Ave. It will be one block southwest of the new Lansing City Hall and low-income housing being built by the Lansing Housing Commission at the site of the former Davenport University building.

Across the street will be the city’s Ovations, a new performing arts center funded by the city.
