BATH TOWNSHIP Mich. (WLNS) – Residents at a local apartment complex are fed up. They say the place is a mess and nothing is being done about it.

Someone living at The Village at Chandler Crossings, who wishes to remain anonymous, said they are sick of the bad conditions. They said they have had to take maintenance into their own hands, otherwise nothing gets done.

“I’m paying money to be here, like part of the rent is that you guys are supposed to do maintenance,” the resident said.

They’ve been living at the complex for 2 years and said they have never seen the conditions this bad, adding that maintenance requests go nowhere.

“All of the work orders that I have in have been pen for several weeks and the oldest one I got closed because I said it either gets fixed or I would pay for it myself and you guys can take it out of my rent,” The resident said.

Before 6 News was kicked off of the property, the resident took our team through the complex, showing a dirty fridge that the resident says has been left outside of their apartment for weeks.

The resident proceeded to take 6 News into their apartment where there were more issues.

“I can’t sit on my sofa because it’s legitimately shedding, it’s in pieces, it’s gross. I have water coming in through the door on my balcony.” The resident continued, “I’ve also sent in a report about the bugs living in my home that I also live in. There is water that comes from right up there and drips down onto the wires.”

The trash was also addressed by this person who lives at the Village at Chandler Crossings.

“It was spilling into the road so far that it was cutting a two-way turn down into one,” the resident said.

A spokesperson for The Village at Chandler Crossings says there were crews there Thursday dealing with the trash and that they have not received any reports of bugs. They also mentioned that they are in the process of updating their systems and that safety and well-being are a top priority.

The resident says these issues have been going on for too long though, to the point where they’ve reported the complex to the city. They said they don’t know what else they can do.

“I don’t know how you could not care that you’re making this many people suffer and pay for things that they’re not getting,” the resident said.

The spokesperson for the apartments said there are multiple dumpsters around the property and they aren’t sure why one of them got so full.

6 News was kicked out before the team could see if that was the case.

The resident feels the staff needs to be better supported by the owners so they aren’t stretched so thin.

6 News reached out to Bath Township to see if they have received reports but did not hear back.

There is always the option of "moving". That would be a very logical and understandable choice.
