Man killed in car crash after hitting a tree in Jackson Co.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A man is dead from a neck injury after he drifted off the road and crashed into a tree, investigators say.

The incident happened Sunday around 7 p.m. Investigators say the car was traveling south on Rives Eaton Road in Jackson County.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the unnamed 53-year-old driver from Rives Township drove off the road and hit a tree, which caused the car to roll over to the opposite side of the road, landing on its roof.

Investigators say the driver was not wearing his seatbelt and alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
