Suspect at large in shooting near Riddle Elementary

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Lansing Police Department has identified and released information on the suspect in last Tuesday’s shooting near a Lansing elementary school.

Police have issued a warrant for Marcell Marshall, 17, as a result of their investigation, and the department says he will be charged as an adult. Marshall has not yet been arrested.

LPD says officers were dispatched to the intersection of Riddle St and W Allegan St after receiving reports of a possible shooting. Upon arrival, officers found two 16-year-old victims, each shot once.

Both victims were transferred to a local hospital, and while one of the teens was in critical condition at the time, one of them has been released and the other currently remains in what police say is “stable condition.”

Initial results of the LPD investigation into the incident finds that the two victims were in the area with friends and were allegedly approached by Marshall. At some point during this encounter, one of the victims allegedly accused Marshall of stealing their property, and the situation escalated.

Police say this led to Marshall shooting both victims and running away.

Marshall and the victims all knew each other prior to this incident.
