CHARLOTTE Mich. (WLNS) – Harvest season is upon us, which means you’re going to start seeing more farming equipment on the roads.

Farmers are reminding people to be extra cautious when driving. The biggest thing you should be aware of when you come across a tractor, combine, or other farming vehicle is your speed. Slow down! The President of Eaton County Farm Bureau, Brett Roberts, said farm vehicles usually go 20 miles an hour, and that’s what you should be driving too. Another tip, be safe rather than sorry. If you think you can pass a tractor, remember how big they are and how much they can block your sight.

“It’s life or death in a lot of these cases. And if you end up in an incident with a tractor, or a combine, any piece of farming equipment, It’s not going to end well for you,” Roberts said.

Being behind a tractor might add 5 minutes to your drive but Farmers say it is worth it to make sure everyone is safe. Just take the extra time to enjoy the rural scenery.

Where I come from, if you lose your driver's license due to drunk driving... you drive your tractor to the liquor store. Been that way forever. 🚜🍻
