LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Two Sterling Heights police officers have been charged with misconduct and felony assault regarding a February arrest.

According to a release from the Michigan Attorney General, 31-year-old James Sribniak and 29-year-old Jack Currie participated in arresting a domestic violence suspect from Roseville on Feb. 25 after they fled a traffic stop.

While the suspect was on the ground and surrounded by officers, and after having been tased twice, Currie allegedly told Sribniak to deploy his K9 to bite the suspect. Sribniak instructed the K9 to bite the suspect, and the K9 then bit the suspect on the back of their right hip.

Both officers have been charged with one count of Misconduct in Office, a five-year felony, and Felonius Assault, a four-year felony.

Sribniak and Currie have not yet been arraigned, and future court dates have not yet been set.
