    Eaton County opioid settlement applications open

    LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Eaton County is inviting opioid prevention and harm reduction organizations to apply for state funding .

    The state of Michigan is expected to receive around $1.6 billion in opioid settlement funds over the next 18 years, and around half of these funds will be sent directly to county and local governments—including Eaton County.

    The funds will be used to support the development, implementation and enhancement of opioid prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery services.

    Eaton County is expected to receive $300,000 in funding annually.

    Organizations seeking funding have until Nov. 18, to apply, and awards will be announced this December.
