Crime Stoppers: 1 wanted, 3 requests for information

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — This week on Crime Stoppers, law enforcement needs your help locating someone wanted for escaping the U.S. Marshals Service and identifying suspects in three separate crimes—including government agency-related fraud.

If you have information regarding the cases below, call Crime Stoppers of Mid-Michigan at (517) 483-STOP. You can remain anonymous.

Those who contact Crime Stoppers with information can receive up to a $1,000 award.

Government agency fraud

The Michigan State Police are asking for any information that could identify a man involved in a fraud investigation where the victim was contacted by someone claiming to be with the Federal Trade Commission and asked to withdraw a large amount of cash and package it in a box. The suspect in question met the victim to collect the money. The suspect is described as an Asian male, 25-35 years old, and approximately 5’6”. There are similar ongoing investigations in Clinton, Ingham, and Bay counties.

Retail fraud at Frandor Shopping Center

The Lansing Police Department is asking for any information that could identify someone involved in two retail frauds. The incidents occurred on June 15 and July 12, 2024, in the Frandor Shopping Center.

The Lansing Police Department is asking for any information that could identify a subject involved in a retail fraud. The incident occurred on September 4, 2024, on the 2700 block of S Cedar Street. The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s with short hair.

Walter James Blackman

Walter James Blackman, 42, is wanted on a felony warrant for escaping the U.S. Marshals Service. He is 5’1″ and 220 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.
