LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The countdown clock is ticking down to November 5, 2024 and election day. Right now, we’re 23 days out from the polls opening.

But, voters in Michigan have been receiving and returning absentee ballots. The votes cast in those ballots can be counted by any voting jurisdiction — township or city — in Michigan on election day. But jurisdictions with a population of more than 5000 can began pre-processing the ballots up to 8 days before the election. The results, however, are not known until after the polls close on election day.

Tracking how many absentee ballots have been requested and sent out and how many of them have been returned has become a fairly simple process with computerization. And Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum has taken to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to share daily updates on returned ballots to local jurisdictions.

I’m voting with an absentee ballot! I’ll get my vote for “REPUBLICAN Trump” counted, come hell or high waters. Man won’t survive another 4 years under the current administration. My grandchildren’s future depends on ridding them, what a relief this will be!
