Harris to campaign in Lansing Friday

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris will be making a campaign visit to Lansing this week, according to the Harris-Walz campaign.

Top local Democrats tell 6 News they are aware of a likely visit, but that could be subject to change.

This would be Harris’ sixth visit to battleground Michigan this election season and her first visit to the state’s capital city. She will also make additional campaign visits to Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Oakland County.

Her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz spoke at an event in East Lansing last month, and U.S. Sen Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Walz’s wife Gwen have both campaigned in the Lansing area.

Former president Donald J. Trump and U.S. Sen J.D. Vance (R-OH) have both campaigned in Michigan, but not in Lansing—though Trump did campaign in Potterville in August.

While the campaign did announce her visit Sunday morning, details such as when the event will take place and where it will be located were not immediately available.
