EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Riding a three-game losing streak, Michigan State’s football team used last week’s bye to their advantage.

The Spartans defeated Iowa, 32-20, at home to improve to 4-3 on the season.

Quarterback Aidan Chiles finished with 256 passing yards and one touchdown pass in the win, with both Nick Marsh (113) and Montorie Foster (100) reaching 100 receiving yards.

Kicker Jonathan Kim connected on six field goals, going 6-7 on his attempts, and broke the MSU record for field goals made in the game.

Next up, MSU will travel to rival Michigan and look for their first win in Ann Arbor since 2020.

    Game Notes:

The Spartans marched down the field on their first drive of the game and settled for a 42-yard field goal from Jonathan Kim to take a 3-0 lead.

Kim would add three more field goals (43-yard, 36-yard, 29-yard) to give MSU a 12-0 late early in the second quarter.

The Hawkeyes struggled to move the ball in the early going and got their first 1st down in the second quarter.

Iowa finished with just 28 rushing yards and 30 yards in the first half. While Michigan State had 118 first half rushing yards and 132 passing yards.

Kim had a chance to connect on a fifth field goal in the first half but missed a 55-yard attempt as the second quarter expired. MSU up 12-0 at halftime.

Iowa started the second half with a 8-play 58-yard drive, which ended on a Cade McNamara 18-yard touchdown pass to Reece Vander Zee. MSU up 12-7 with 9:56 to play in the third quarter.

Michigan State responded on it’s very next drive.

Sophomore quarterback Aidan Chiles threw an 18-yard touchdown to Montorie Foster Jr. to put the Spartans up 19-7 with 4:34 to play in the third quarter.

Kim would connect on his sixth field goal of night, extending the MSU lead to 25-14.

Both teams would get touchdowns from running backs to end the game and MSU went on to win 32-20.
