LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — While you might (or might not) be rooting for Michigan State University on the football field, the school is aiming for victory in a different kind of competition—a blood donation competition with the rest of the Big Ten.

Register for MSU’s We Give Blood Drive (WLNS)

The We Give Blood Drive aims to fight the current blood shortage—the largest in recent memory—by encouraging fans of each of the Big Ten schools to donate blood and help their favorite school climb the leaderboard by submitting proof that they donated.

Individual donors will receive a free 1-month subscription to B1G+ and be entered to win a trip to the championship game regardless of whether or not their donation was accepted. The winning school will be announced at the championship game and receive a $1 million award for students and community health.

MSU will host a blood drive next Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Breslin Student Events Center between 10:00 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Each donation at the drive earns the affiliated school one point.

As of this article’s publication , the University of Michigan is in sixth place, and MSU is in thirteenth place.

Not an MSU fan, or unable to make it to next week’s blood drive? You can donate blood at any of these locations and submit your proof of your donation here to make sure that it counts toward your team’s score.

The blood drive ends on Dec. 6, the day before the championship game. Individual sweepstakes winners will be announced on Nov. 18.
