BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (WLNS) – Okemos senior Alena Li has done a lot of winning in her golf career.

This past Saturday at Ferris State University’s Katke Golf Course, Li captured the Division 1 medalist honor thanks to a pair of 73s in the two-round, 36-hole tournament.

It doesn’t come as a surprise that Li came out on top because, over the summer, she captured the Michigan Junior Girls State Amateur championship.

Both titles were major goals for her entering this year and hard work has been key to her success in 2024.

“A lot of hours out on the course,” Li said. “Every day coming out to work on my game and then also (mentally) thinking through the game, like my course strategy, and then keep encouraging myself throughout the round. I love being able to come out there and hit it in the hole. It’s real relaxing as well to be out in nature and be in my own game.”

Li also credits her parents and younger sister for supporting her and allowing her to reach the highest accomplishment in high school golf.
