JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) — On Friday night, Haslett and Jackson’s game was called early due to an off-the-field incident.

According to Kriss Giannetti, the JPS Assistant Superintendent of Communication, on Facebook, “At approximately 9:15 pm a fight broke out inside of Withington Stadium. The fight then moved outside of the stadium. Jackson Police Department officers were already on scene. As a precaution, we immediately went into our Shelter in Place protocols. Teams and coaches were moved into the team area under bleachers and spectators were moved to North End of the Stadium. At this time JPD has secured the area. The game will not resume and all spectators and students are leaving the stadium.”

Giannetti added, “We appreciated as always the support of the JPD in keeping our Vikings Community and visiting team safe. Thank you to our attendees for having patience and remaining calm during the Shelter in Place.”

Haslett took a 42-24 lead with 6:59 to play in the fourth quarter, and the game was stopped shortly after to give Haslett its fifth straight victory.
