LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is providing an update on early voting, which began in most areas of the state this past weekend.

There have been reports of long lines across Mid-Michigan. Sec. Benson said more than 250,000 people voted early over the weekend and 1.5 million absentee votes have been received.

Your early voting location will be determined by your permanent residence. Voters can only cast ballots at their designated voting location . Early voting is available through Nov. 3.

As of Monday morning, Sec. Benson said 61% of all voters this weekend were under 60 years old, 13.5% were under 30 and so far 55% of voters have been women.

Early voting allows flexibility when picking your time to vote, a perk that Lansing Mayor Andy Schor and his wife Erin took advantage of today.

Lansing residents can cast their votes at the Foster Community Center. The center will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for all nine early voting days.

The Reo Elections Office will also be open to those voting early in Lansing. The office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 26 to Oct. 29, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 30 and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 31 to the end of early voting on Nov. 3.

The City of Jackson has announced that designated early voting will be held at the City Council Chambers of City Hall. Early voters can head to the site between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for all nine early voting days

Meridian Township has announced that voters can head to the Meridian Township Municipal Building Town Hall Room from Oct. 26 to Nov. 3 between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for all nine early voting days.
