Walton County senior center to host special celebration

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. ( WMBB ) – The Life Enrichment Senior Center in DeFuniak Springs is celebrating its residents and other seniors across the county on Wednesday, August 21 with an event in honor of Senior Appreciation Day.

The celebration will be hosted at the DeFuniak Springs Community Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It’s free to attend and will include lunch, over 30 local vendors, live music, and even a live skit performance.

Senior Appreciation Day was created back in 1988 and today senior center staff hope to continue the important tradition of showing love to all our seniors.

“Senior Appreciation Day is just a way of all of us just showing our appreciation, especially myself because I appreciate my seniors immensely,” said Life Enrichment Senior Center Director Susan Bakalo. “I just want every senior citizen in the world and in the county to understand that this is a day for them.”
