WALTON COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – On Thursday, it has been exactly 27 years since a 17-year-old Opp, Alabama girl disappeared from her home, never to be seen again.

Kemberly Ramer was about to be a senior in high school. After graduation, she planned to go to college in Mobile. The night she disappeared, Kem had been at her boyfriend’s house. She left just before midnight to get home by her curfew.

Her father was not home. Police said there were signs of a struggle in her bedroom and evidence of phone calls to Florida numbers that were unfamiliar to Kem’s family.

“Early on, I believed that she was hurt, someone hurt her. I had a sick feeling. Then the days went by and the days went by and I knew something was wrong. Someone did something to her. And all I needed to do was find her,” Kemberlys mother said.

Sue Enfinger was divorced from Kem’s father and was living in Walton County. Kem had been at Sue’s home earlier that day. Walton County sheriff’s officials said they have at least one person of interest from Walton County and believe Kem’s body may be there.

Her mother said 27 years is long enough. She just wants to bury Kemberly and get some closure.
