WALTON COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – There was another important race in Walton County involving the County Commission District 1 seat.

The incumbent William “Boots” McCormick faced challenges from former commissioner Trey Nick and Dan Curry.

All 3-men ran as Republicans, with no Democratic challenger, so this race was decided on Tuesday night.

As you can see Curry won with 48% of the vote.

Surrounded by friends and family curry brought in the victory with 48% of the vote. More than two thousand votes over his runner-up Trey Nicks with 36%.

Incumbent Williams boots McCormick sitting at 16 %for the final total. This is the first time Dan Curry will be sworn in as a county commissioner. Trey Nicks and William Boots McCormack have experience in that seat.

In recent years both men have been involved in county lawsuits stemming from their time as county commissioners. Regardless of their experience, Curry said that he is thankful for a well-fought race with his competitors and is ready to get to work.

“There’s a there’s a long list it’s a long list. Let’s just take it one day at a time. I want to look at infrastructure. I know we have some beach problems that we need to take care of. But but I think we have too much going into too little right now in Walton County, and we need to focus on some priorities,” Curry said.

Nick’s camp refused to speak with us tonight before or after the votes were counted. Curry said he looks forward to working with the two men to create a better future for the county.

Curry ran on a platform asking for change, and based on these results, he believes that Walton County residents feel the same way. We will see how the race turns out for the District 3 and District 5 commissioner seats at the general election in November.

Apparently 36% of Walton County residents are either racist or gullible to his lies as they demonstrated by supporting Trey.
