Search underway for driver after car is found submerged in Florida lake

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A search is underway for a driver after a vehicle was found submerged in a Florida lake on Wednesday morning.

According to the Orlando Police Department, crews responded to Lake Fairview around 6:30 a.m. after someone reported the car in the water.

Dive teams are searching the lake for the driver, but it is unknown if anyone was inside the vehicle when it went into the water.

It is possible the driver left the scene.

Officials are investigating what led up to the incident.

The car has since been towed from the scene, the department said Wednesday afternooon.
