BAY COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – One of the Bay County Economic Development Alliance’s key projects received a big boost this week.

Triumph Gulf Coast board members approved $25 million in funding for project “Spinner”.

Project Spinner is a maintenance, repair, and operations, or MRO facility. The grant will go to Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport, where the MRO facility will be built.

Walton County Public Works announced upcoming closure on Lakewood Drive

It will handle commercial jet aircraft engine repair. A second building will house a jet engine testing center and a third facility in Lynn Haven will be used to test and distribute aircraft parts.

Project Spinner will create at least 500 high-wage jobs. There is also a potential partnership with Space Florida.

Triumph also advanced a Franklin County grant proposal for $750,000 to hire a consultant for a county-wide first responder communication system.
