    Panama City man arrested for burglarizing a residence, thousands reportedly stolen

    PANAMA CITY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – The Bay County Sheriff’s Office arrested a local man in connection to the theft of thousands of dollars inside a property.

    On August 21, a burglary was reported to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office at the 2300 block of Sherman Ave residence, according to a news release.

    The victim was in the process of moving from the home when they realized multiple thousands of dollars of property had been stolen from the home, officials wrote.

    The BCSO Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and began working on the case.

    On August 22, BCSO officials identified the suspect as 41-year-old Nathan Scarbrough of Panama City.

    Scarbrough was located and taken into custody for the burglary and theft. He was also found to be in possession of fentanyl, deputies confirmed.

    During an interview, investigators said Scarbrough admitted to committing the burglary but made claims he did not know the location of the stolen property.

    Scarborough was taken to the Bay County Jail for the charges of Burglary of a Dwelling, Grand Theft, and Possession of Fentanyl. All the stolen property was recovered and returned to the victim.
