PANAMA CITY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – Lauren Scott has just begun her second year of teaching students with autism at the Pre-K level at Hiland Park Elementary.

It is unfair to classify her as a specific type of teacher.

To her co-workers, she is simply the perfect educator.

Parker Elementary teacher builds lifelong bonds

“When you think of what you want to look for in your child’s teacher, Lauren exemplifies all of those things,” said Hiland Park Elementary School Principal Ilea Faircloth. “She is kind, she is hardworking, she has a heart for what she does, and she sees potential in children. That’s the kind of people that we want educating our youth here at Hiland Park Elementary.”

For Scott herself, teaching Pre-K students in her own words means it is up to you to get and keep students interested in school for years to come.

“Pre-K is where the seed starts,” Scott said. “I want them to love school now so that when they get to kindergarten, and those grades going up in elementary school, that they continue to enjoy it just like I do.”

One way Scott ensures her students enjoy school is by getting them energized to start the day.

“We want to set the atmosphere and that culture of school is fun,” Scott went on to say. “We want you to be here, we love you, we want you to learn. So by getting them pumped up and amped up in the morning, I feel like that sets the tone for the rest of the day.”

Scott sees the potential each of her students has.

She does everything in her power to help them achieve their goals.

“She sees the whole kid,” Faircloth added. “She sees the potential and what she can do, and she helps reach each individual student’s goals.”

That is why Lauren Scott is a Class Act.

If there is someone in your child’s school system who you believe is a Class Act don’t hesitate and nominate them today .

Janitors, cafeteria workers, and bus riders are eligible for this award.
