WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – The local motorcycle group MC Outlaws made a huge donation to the Lucky Puppy Rescue nonprofit.

This comes over an evening poker run hosted by the motorcycle group.

The Lucky Puppy Rescue is a nonprofit organization in Bonfay that focuses on restoring the health and shape of dogs that come to their property. Currently, the facility houses around 200 dogs.

“We started this in 2008. We came up here, bought some property to raise cattle, and the dogs started showing up. And so Terry decided to open a small rescue with five dogs and five went to 25. That went to 50. That went to 200. So we get dogs from several counties we get dogs from the shelters, individuals, the side of the road out, and pastures underneath buildings,” Lucky Puppy employee Becky Lowrey said.

Bay County Motorcycle club donated pounds of dog food to help feed 200 puppies

Over the past 9 years, the MC Outlaws motorcycle group has hosted a poker event called “Dog Days”.

The amount collected goes to Lucky Puppy.

This year the group donated 3,000 pounds of dog food to the organization.

“Currently, we have close to 200 dogs and we are always in need of dog food. So this is a godsend to get this much food at this time. This will take us through probably another month where we can feed our dogs, feed all these unwanted dogs,” Lowrey said.

Lowrey says the Lucky Puppy needs help with assisting the overwhelming amount of dogs on their 125-acre property.

“We are desperately in need for volunteers. I know it’s a you know, an hour drive up here from Panama City or Tallahassee or whatever, but I’m telling you, it’s outdoors. You’ll see a lot of really good dogs. They’re not in cages. They’re not in pens. And you might even enjoy your day” Lowery said.
