Man accused of killing his father in Panama City Beach sentenced to 45 years

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. ( WMBB ) – A man accused of killing his father in Panama City Beach will spend the next 45 years behind bars.

29-year-old Tyler Davis pleaded no contest Monday to the second-degree murder.

On September 22, 2022, he was charged with shooting his father in the head while he was lying in bed at his Panama City Beach home. According to the State Attorney’s office, Davis was captured later that same day in Forsyth County, Georgia.

Investigators say he confessed to the killing and also told authorities where he hid the gun.

The judge sentenced him to 45 years in prison, the first 25 are mandatory.
