PANAMA CITY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – Jeannie Adams doesn’t just teach the current academic year, she instead teaches and prepares her students for the years to come.

She sees what each student can do and does everything in her power to help students achieve their goals.

“When you’re around Jeannie, you just feel good,” said Hiland Park Elementary School Principal Ilea Faircloth. “She helps her kids see the potential in themselves, which is very much what Hiland Park Elementary is all about.”

Now in her third year teaching kindergarten Adams has always been vocal in making her classroom a safe space.

“I wanted students, rather, to understand that it’s important that we have friends and that we build that relationship with one another. It’s just kind of been something that I’ve always done,” Adams said. “It seems to encourage those friends that might have a harder time making friends to let them know that they have a friend with me.”

Adam’s peers easily notice how helpful she is and how she is constantly prioritizing her students.

“She is there for her kids in their corner, and she sees them at the earliest of ages and identifies those kids and grows each of them in their own path,” Faircloth added. “It’s amazing to see them come back later on when they grow up to see what kind of human they become, and that’s what teaching is about.”

Adams ensures all her students feel comfortable around her.

“I’ve always taught my students that if they’re just having a bad day and they just need a hug, that they can come up to me at any point and just get a hug, too,” said Adams. “That way they can feel better, so they know that I’m open for whatever it is that they need.”

That is why Jeannie Adams is a Class Act.
