PANAMA CITY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – The City of Panama City has conducted a full activation of its Comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan in preparation for the impacts of Hurricane Helene.

Officials said this is a proactive measure to ensure that all City departments are prepared to respond to potential emergencies related to severe weather.

“Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our residents,” City Manager Jonathan Hayes said. “By fully activating our emergency operations plans, we are mobilizing resources and personnel to ensure a coordinated response and to provide vital services to our community.”

According to a news release, all city emergency response teams are on standby and ready to address urgent needs including rescue operations, debris management, and public safety measures.

Residents are advised to take necessary safety precautions, such as securing property, reviewing safety plans, and avoiding roadways where water buildup occurs as flooding rain remains a big concern.
