PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. ( WMBB ) – The Man in the Sea Museum is offering residents a unique opportunity to learn about the history of Florida pirates on Thursday, October 10 at the museum in Panama City Beach.

A presentation will be given by Robert Jacobs on the history of pirates across the state from 3 to 5 p.m. at no cost.

The presentation will examine the truths, myths, and legends from Sir Francis Drake to José Gaspar.

His event comes just in time for the “Pirates of the High Seas & Renaissance Fest” this weekend in Panama City Beach and serves as a great way to get your pirate-themed weekend started on the right foot.

“This is a great way to kick off the weekend here in Panama City Beach with the Renaissance Fair and Pirate Festival going on,” Man in the Sea Museum Executive Director Steve Mulholland said. “Just to set the tone, we might have some treasure for the kids, we might have some grog out here if you walk the plank. It’s just a way to have some free fun.”

Eventgoers will also get the opportunity to learn some interesting facts about pirates here in Bay County.

If you can’t make tomorrow’s presentation but want to check out the Man in the Sea Museum you can stop by Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
