UPDATE : According to WCSO, the vehicle has been located. Officials said it appears Kiedrowski was dropped off shortly before. Two people are detained at this time.

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – The Walton County Sheriff’s Office and DeFuniak Springs Police are searching for an escaped prisoner from Walton Correctional Institution.

According to a news release, 59-year-old John Kiedrowski III is 6’3, 183 lbs and last seen wearing a blue inmate uniform with a short-sleeved shirt. Officials confirmed his hair is no longer bald, it is one inch in length and usually combed back.

Officials said they last seen Keidrowski on surveillance being picked up in the parking lot of Walton Correctional Institute just before 11 a.m. on Friday. He is believed to be traveling in a dark-colored Chrysler 200, officials wrote.

There has been a one-and-a-half-hour time lapse from the last time he was seen on prison property.

Kiedrowski is currently serving time for aggravated assault, felon in possession of a firearm and ammo, attempted burglary with a weapon, and grand theft of a firearm. He has previously served time for battery on a law enforcement officer.

He also has known ties back to Jacksonville, Florida.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office drone unit, Walton Correctional K-9 team, WCSO K-9, and DeFuniak Springs Police Department are searching the immediate area of Institution Road in DeFuniak Springs.

Officials urge locals not to approach him and to exercise extreme caution. If you spot Kiedrowski call 911.
