LYNN HAVEN, Fla. (WMBB) – The Mosley football team is undefeated and ranked No. 1 in Class 5A Region 1, an unachievable feat without the help of their Division I-sized offensive line.

The offensive line consists of senior left tackle Jayvion Dudley, junior right guard Jase Jernigan, senior left guard Logan McAlister, senior right guard Cameron Colvin and senior center Quinton Brewer. As a whole, the Dolphin’s O-line weighs in at just under 1,500 pounds.

Mosley Offensive Line Coach Sean Maddox said they might not get much recognition, but they come to work every single day.

“They’re not the guys scoring the touchdowns, you know, getting their names in the papers, but everything flows through those guys,” Maddox said. “So technically on the offense side of the ball, that offensive line is bad offense. You can’t overcome a bad offensive line.”

From the outside looking in, it appears Mosley is 7-0 right now because all of the stars on offense with the ball in their hands. It’s very rare for the P.A. announcer to say one of the offensive linemen’s names, but Logan McAlister said they are all happy to play their role.

“You know, you have to really enjoy being on the O-line because, as you said, we never get any of that recognition,” McAlister said. “But I just enjoy it. I enjoy hitting people. I enjoy moving people. I enjoy dominating.”

It certainly takes a special kind of young man to want to take hits one play after the next while everyone else receives the attention, but Quinton Brewer said that battle taking place in the trenches is a bonding experience.

“It’s definitely like a brotherhood,” Brewer said. “It’s like we’re all, like I’m always hanging out with Cameron, Logan, Dudley, just like we’re all like we’re always together, usually always, all of us together at some point throughout the day.”

The leader of the offense, senior quarterback Sammy Freitas said the O-line is truly the heart and soul of the team on and off the field.

“In the locker room, we have a lot of roast battles and stuff like that, builds our connection a little bit, Freitas said. “We’re definitely picking on them, they’re picking on us back, it’s a connection thing that we have. I would say nobody really sees, but I think it helps us. Their personalities too, some people just see them as big greaseball’s out there just blocking, but they’re really funny in the locker room. It helps a lot.”

Mosley is averaging well over 400 total offensive yards per game, nearly a perfect balance down the middle between rushing and passing. Senior right guard Cameron Colvin said their goal is perfection.

“You just always got to win the point of attack,” Colvin said. “It doesn’t need to change our mindset right now is that we need to stay on top, stay where we’re at, keep the zero at the end of our record.”

Mosley will look to improve to 8-0 when they host Arnold on Friday, October 18.
