    Department of Education granting local school districts with workforce funding

    BAY COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – Several local school districts will be receiving substantial grants to train the future workforce for high-demand jobs.

    Recipients can use the money to create or expand workforce development programs, giving students hands-on experience in aerospace, biomedical science, digital video tech, and aviation.

    Bay district schools are receiving $1.5 million for agri-technology, allied health assisting, building trades and design technology, criminal justice, and unmanned aircraft systems operations programs.

    Franklin district schools are getting $500,000 for allied health assistance and welding technology programs.

    Bay County hosts Waste Amnesty Days for residents

    Liberty district schools will receive $65,000 for programs in allied health assistance, applied cybersecurity, and construction design technology & building trades.

    Walton district schools are getting almost $178,000 for practical nursing and patient care technology programs.

    The Florida Department of Education is handing out a total of $62 million through the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive, or “Workforce Cap” Grant Program.
