Prep sports recap for Sept. 4, 2024

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Central Catholic volleyball still hasn’t lost a set this season.

In an early-season showdown of unbeaten teams, Central Catholic beat visiting Heyworth, 25-16, 27-25 on Wednesday. The Saints are now 5-0 on the season and the Hornets slip to 4-1.

Brimfield beat visiting Princeville in two sets in high school volleyball, as well.

At the Intercity soccer tournament, U-High scored three times in the second half to beat host Bloomington, 4-1. And Normal West blanked visiting Central Catholic, 7-0.

In prep football, Normal community is prepared to host Normal West in a key Big 12 Conference match-up on Friday. Both teams come into the rivalry game after wins in season openers last week.
