Prep football recap for Week 2 games on Sept. 6, 2024

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Normal Community celebrated its senior night with a big win over rival Normal West.

The Ironmen jumped out to a 14-0 lead and beat the visiting Wildcats, 48-7, to win the 30th edition of the Chili Bowl game between the crosstown rivals. Normal Community improves to 2-0, Normal West slips to 1-1.

Other winners in week 2 of the high school football season included Peoria High, Richwoods, Bloomington, Metamora, Dunlap, East Peoria, LeRoy, Heyworth, Bloomington Central Catholic, Stark County, Farmington, Elmwood-Brimfield, Princeville and Prairie Central.

Richwoods beat Manual, 38-0, in the first girls flag football game in Peoria. Girls flag football is in its first season as an Illinois High School Association varsity sport.
