Prep sports recap for Sept. 26, 2024

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Washington and Dunlap are celebrating Mid-Illini Conference golf titles.

The Panthers won the boys title by three shots over East Peoria at Wee-Ma-Tuk Hills Country Club on Thursday. Washington was led by medalist Gavin Schreurs, who shot a 2-under 70 and beat Dunlap’s Nolan Eccles in a four-hole playoff.

The Eagles won the Mid-Illini girls title by 23 strokes over Pekin and Morton, who tied for second. Dunlap was led by medalist Sydney Hunt, who’s 84 was four shots better than Metamora’s Gillian Tyra at Lick Creek Golf Course .

In volleyball, Normal West improved to 17-0 with a two-set win over visiting Notre Dame. Limestone, El Paso-Gridley and Central Catholic also won volleyball matches on Thursday.
