EAST PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Lizzie Stenger has an interesting way of describing her senior year of high school.

“It’s a little chaotic but I feel like it builds really good character and good time management skills,” said Stenger. “I’d say it’s not for everybody.”

That’s because she is deeply involved at East Peoria High school.

She’s on the volleyball, basketball and track teams. And she’s a student leader.

“She is part of our student council, she is the student body president,” said EP volleyball coach Katelyn Romeo. “A lot of people look to Lizzie for leadership.”

You can also find Stenger on stage as a part of school musicals. Her voice is heard over the intercom each afternoon with the school-wide announcements .

And she is part of “Inside the Tribe,” a student-led TV program at East Peoria. She serves as co-host but also helps edit and produce features.

“‘Inside the Tribe’ is our school newsreel. We do all the announcements for the week, (tell) the upcoming events and we also do The Raider Report, where we shout out athletes and teams that have performed well over the last week or two,” said Stenger.

Stenger has become a reliable student-athlete at East Peoria. And the student voice of the school.

“I feel like I’m a familiar voice that people know,” she said. “I hope people get the impression they can come to me for anything.”
