EAST PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Fire and police vehicles, as well as classic cars, lined the parking lot of Bass Pro Shops in East Peoria Friday night for the Cops and Rodders Trunk or Treat event.

It’s an event put on by Peoria Cars and Coffee as well as the East Peoria Police Department. It combines a car show with a Trunk or Treat event.

The general manager of Bass Pro Shops, Mike Heuermann, said there’s lots to see, “especially tonight with all the trunk-or-treating and great decorations, everything is a lot of fun, a lot of a lot of families.”

Thousands of people attended, with families and kids donned in costumes going around to the different cars to grab their candy.

Todd Spencer, the Service Manager at the Mid-Illini Auto Center, who sponsors the event, brought his Jeep Wrangler, covered in skeletons.

He said it’s a good mixture of car guys showing off their wheels, while kids get to have sweets and a Halloween experience.

“It’s good to get out, meet everybody, get along with everybody and have a good time,” Spencer said.

This is the 6th annual Trunk or Treat event and the last night of the year for the Friday Night Lights car show.
