    UScellular donates over $56,000 to help keep youth connected

    PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — UScellular has donated over $56,000 worth of wireless hotspots to Youth Advocate Programs, inc.

    They announced the donation of 50 wireless hotspots to help keep local youth connected to the internet.

    UScellular has donated 175 hotspots and two years of service with a monetary equivalence of $197,050 to be distributed among five different Youth Advocate Programs locations with one of these being the Peoria location.

    “Connecting people and communities is our mission, and the After School Access Project is just one way that we’re helping ensure youth have the reliable access they need to grow and pursue their dreams,” said Mike Burwell, director of retail sales and operations at UScellular. “We encourage Illinois nonprofit organizations to apply for this program and help us bring reliable wireless internet access to youth across America.”

    These hotspots can be used at the youth advocate locations and are available for families to check out to take home.

    According to UScellular they have donated more than $30 million in mobile hotspots and service, connecting more than 100,000 youths throughout hundreds of organizations across the country since 2021.
