“Stay patient.” East Peoria golfer’s offers advice to young athletes after he shines at state

EAST PEORIA, Illinois (WMBD) – Saturday marked the end of the career for a fantastic East Peoria golfer.

Connor Watson finished in fourth place at the 2A boys state meet, tying for the best round of the day at 2-under.

Watson has consistently improved each year at the tournament; Barely cracked the top 50 as a sophomore, then top 30 as a junior, now in the top five as a senior.

He has the following advice for young golfers getting started.

Stay patient. Just enjoy the enjoy the opportunity to be here. I guess it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, kind of. And just enjoy it. It’s a lot of fun. A lot of practice…I just want to get better. Like I just try to find ways to improve and do my best.
