    Canton man arrested for assaulting man in his home

    CANTON, Ill. (WMBD) — The Canton Police Department has arrested a man in connection to a home invasion incident from last month.

    According to a Canton police Facebook post , James Hardesty, 48, was arrested on charges of home invasion and aggravated battery.

    Hardesty allegedly entered a home near Chestnut Street and North Avenue B and attacked a 63-year-old man who was sleeping. The man was initially taken to Graham Hospital before being transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Peoria.

    Charges dismissed against man accused in Washington beating

    Canton police detectives learned that Hardesty allegedly entered the residence to make contact with the victim over allegations the man stole Hardesty’s bicycle.

    Hardesty has been transferred to the Fulton County Jail.

    This incident remains under investigation.
