CHILLICOTHE, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — The IVC Grey Ghosts hope to score a lot of points this season.

And they hope it leads to a lot of wins.

IVC football coach Tim Heinz, who starts his 21st season with the team, says “the majority” of his offensive unity returns from last year. He has an 18-player senior class that sounds like it’s ready to start piling up wins.

“Out of our conference teams, we’ve only beaten two of them since I’ve been here, Pontiac and Rantoul,” said senior receiver Mikah Hall. “The teams we’ve lost to in my time here and the teams I’m excited to play. I’m tired of losing to them.”

Hall and Bryndyn Coventry are back as pass catchers for senior quarterback Bryce Radcliff, another returning starter on the offense. IVC last made the playoffs with a 10-1 team in 2019.

But the Grey Ghosts have only won ten games since that run to the playoffs. The players believe the team is poised for a big year.

“I’m trying to rally up the troops,” said senior lineman Trevor Blount. “Trying to get everybody on one page and trying to get them to understand what we want to do this year. We want to win and try and get into the playoffs this year.”

IVC opens the season at Paxton-Buckley-Loda on Friday.
