Recalled Frozen Treats Sold In Wisconsin Could Make You Sick

Several popular frozen treats often enjoyed for breakfast have been recalled from stores around the country, including in Wisconsin, due to possible contamination with a bacteria that could make you sick.

TreeHouse Foods, Inc. has expanded a recall of "frozen toaster waffle, Belgian waffle and pancake products" all manufactured in one facility and "still within their shelf-life" to a possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, according to a recall notice shared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration that lists the various UPC and Lot Codes of impacted products.

Listeria monocytogenes is the bacteria that can cause listeria, leading to "serious and sometimes fatal infections" that can cause severe illness in high-risk groups like children, the elderly, those who are pregnant and persons with weakened immune systems, according to the FDA. Symptoms can include fever, chills, headaches, muscle aches, nausea and diarrhea.

The affected products, which includes dozens of different labels all with Lot Codes starting with "2C", were distributed throughout all U.S. states and Canadian provinces and sold in stores like Walmart, Target, Publix, Kroger, Albertsons, Aldi, H-E-B, Dollar General, among others. No confirmed illness have been linked to the recall, but anyone who has purchased the affected products should either throw them out.
