WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) — There’s a new homeowner in Washington.

City officials and the Washington Housing Authority cut the ribbon on a four-bedroom home on Gladden Street on Tuesday. The housing authority works with the homeowner through the city’s Neighborhood Revitalization Program to make sure it’s affordable.

“The key is to fulfilling the dreams of families, ordinary families, families that are really facing challenges right now,” said Franklin Scott, the CEO of the Washington Housing Authority. “And that’s the important thing. We can’t leave any citizens behind and especially hard-working citizens, because the person who will own this home is a hardworking individual and they just need a leg up.”

This is the second home built through the Neighborhood Revitalization Program. If you’re interested in applying to be a homeowner through the program, you can visit the Washington Housing Authority’s website.
