South Central, Northside, Greene Central baseball, Northside, South Central softball win in state playoffs

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Friday was the fourth round of the state high school baseball and softball playoffs, just two steps away from the state finals.

Teams played Friday for the chance to advance to the East Regional finals in their classification. That round is a best-of-3 series with the winners going to the state finals in their classification.

Among Friday’s winners included South Central, Northside and Greene Central baseball. South Central rolled to a 10-0 win over Croatan, scoring eight in the first inning. Northside scored three in the bottom of the ninth inning and won 6-5. The Rams won a dramatic walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth inning, 1-0.

In softball, Northside beat North Duplin, the defending East Regional champs in 1-A, 12-5. South Central also won at home over Dixon, 10-5.

Class 1-A: Northside 6, Roxboro Community School 5, 9 innings (will host East Wake Academy Tuesday in best-of-3 series)

Class 1-A: East Wake Academy 8, Bear Grass Charter 6

Class 2-A: Greene Central 1, Midway 0, 9 innings (will host Whiteville Tuesday in best-of-3 series)

Class 2-A: Whiteville 5, North Lenoir 2

Class 3-A: South Central 10, Croatan 0 (will play at Terry Sanford Tuesday in best-of-3 series)
