RALEIGH, N.C. — Craig Adolff of Kernersville took a chance on a $3 Mega Millions ticket and won a $4 million prize.

Adolff bought his lucky Quick Pick ticket for the April 23 drawing using Online Play. He matched all five white balls to win $1 million, and the prize quadrupled to $4 million when the 4X Megaplier hit.

The $4 million prize ranked as the largest won nationally in the drawing. The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are 1 in 12.6 million.

Adolff arrived at lottery headquarters Friday to collect his prize and, after federal and state tax withholdings, took home $2,860,001.

North Carolinians have a chance in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing to win a $331 million prize. A winner could take home the jackpot as an annuity or $153.1 million in cash.
