ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Tickets are now on sale for the Chef Rival event on June 18 in Rocky Mount, which is a fundraiser for Ripe for Revival’s fleet of pay-what-you-can mobile markets serving central and Eastern North Carolina.

The cooking competition is designed to showcase the region’s culinary talent by having three chefs create a dish using ingredients found on the mobile market within a time limit. Guests will enjoy refreshments from Tobacco Wood Brewing Co., live music, a silent auction and sample the chefs’ dishes.

The competing chefs include Luke Owens of Native Fine Diner and Julep in Greenville; Malik Williams of LouReda’s, an American Table, in Rocky Mount; and Quentin “Q” Sidney of Tobacco Wood Brewing Co. in Oxford.

The event emcee will be Benton Moss of Twin County Media and Simmons & Harris. The judges include Kitty Kinnin, radio personality and deejay on 96.1 BBB; Michelle Grainger with the North Carolina Sweetpotato Commission; and Zac Hackney with the Farmville Food Hub.

The June 18th event will be held from 6-8 p.m. at Factory 633, 2721 S. Halifax Road, Rocky Mount. Tickets cost $45 per person or $60 per couple and can be purchased at https://www.ripeforrevival.com/products/2024-chef-rival-event-tickets .

The event sponsors include Braswell Family Farms, Flatlands Insurance Group, Overman & Parks CPA, Ripe Revival, Factory 633 and Carolina Cooker. For more information about sponsorships, contact Anne Parker Chambless at anneparker@riperevival.com .

Proceeds will benefit Ripe for Revival , a Rocky Mount nonprofit with a fleet of buses converted into pay-what-you-can mobile grocery stores. Ripe for Revival is the nonprofit arm of Ripe Revival, an eastern North Carolina produce company founded by entrepreneur Will Kornegay. The fleet of five mobile markets sell local produce, meat and dairy to the public, including many families experiencing food insecurity, at up to a 18 sites and events per week in Beaufort, Edgecombe, Halifax, Lenoir, Nash, Pitt, Sampson and Wake counties.
