Season ends for South Central softball after 14-3 loss

WINTERVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — The high school softball season came to an end for South Central after a loss to South Brunswick in the Class 3-A state playoffs.

South Brunswick became the first team to qualify for next week’s state championships after a 14-3 victory at South Central. The Cougars scored 10 of their runs in the final two innings to blow open a 4-3 lead they had after five innings. The Falcons tacked on a run in the bottom of the fifth for the one-run margin before the Cougars took command.

South Central ended its season at 20-7. South Brunswick (25-4) awaits the winner of the Class 3-A West Regional final between Piedmont and Kings Mountain.
