KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — A Kinston man pled guilty to robbery with a dangerous weapon in Lenoir County Superior Court on Wednesday.

Matthew Wyche, 34, was arrested on Jan. 7, following an investigation into an armed robbery. The robbery took place on Jan. 5, at the Kinston Tobacco and Vape. Officers said Wyche came into the store armed and demanded money from the register. He ran after the clerk complied.

A person relayed a tip to the Kinston Police Department on Jan. 7, informing them of Wyche’s location. Wyche was arrested without incident on Queen Street in Kinston shortly after the department received the call.

Wyche was sentenced to 51-74 months in prison after pleading guilty in court to robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was also ordered to pay fines, court costs and restitution to the victim.
