Search ensues for shooting suspect in Lenoir County

UPDATE (WNCT) — Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office has released new information regarding the shooting that took place on Wednesday morning.

New information from the Sheriff’s Office now states that a man shot another man in the hand at a Brown’s Plant and Seeds on Hwy 258 due to an attempted robbery occurring around 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning. A man walked into the shop wearing a mask and a hat, shooting a man inside the business, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Sheriff’s Office also provided new information saying that the victim was transported to a hospital where his current condition is unknown. The suspect fled the business in a light blue or grey Ford SUV, heading towards Greene County.

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — A shooting at Brown’s Auto Sales in Lenoir County on Wednesday has law enforcement looking for a suspect. Sheriff Jackie Rogers describes the suspect as a slender male in a grey-colored Hyundai, according to an email from Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday morning.

Sources say he could have been driving a grey Hyundai. Authorities did not provide information on the condition of the shooting victim.
